Mental Health First Aid trains everyone from members of the community to first responders about mental health issues and how to address youth, adults and communities faced with mental health crises.

Mental Health First Aid
A mental health aid certification program for the community.

About the Curriculum
The curriculum used for this program is Mental Health First Aid USA and the program is funded through the Illinois Department of Human Services. Mental Health First Aid USA is recognized by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s National Registry of Evidence-based programs and practices. The education addresses the recognition of mental health issues, or crisis: tactical approaches on how to deal with them such as de-escalation; and other approaches that provide a faster, more effective response to those suffering from mental health issues.
